Willingdon Scarecrow Festival of 2021, a new community event supporting local causes!
The Scarecrow Festival will run from 3rd - 17th July 2021!
We are very proud to be supporting the fantastic work carried out by St Wilfrid's Hospice for a fourth year!
St Wilfrid’s Hospice Say -“Our mission is reaching out to transform end of life care for the people of Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, Uckfield, Heathfield and all the points in between. We provide specialist care for people with any progressive, advanced life-limiting illness. Referrals are made by the patient’s GP or other healthcare professionals and care is delivered by a team that includes consultants in palliative medicine, specialist nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, counsellors and social workers.”
We were delighted to support SERV Sussex in 2019 and 2020 and we were amazed by their volunteer work so we have decided to support them for a third year!
SERV SUSSEX is a volunteer run, publicly funded charity who transport urgent and emergency blood & blood products, human donor breast milk, medication and medical equipment to Sussex hospitals. Free of charge to the NHS. Volunteers are on call 365 nights a year from 7pm to 6am, as well as 24 hour bank holiday and weekend cover. This includes Christmas day and New years day.
Willingdon hasn't had a Scarecrow Festival before so we are not sure where the most residents will be that are interested in supporting the new Willingdon Scarecrow Festival that's why we may not have covered all of Willingdon.
We will be judging the following areas and anything inbetween:
- Willingdon from the Church Street Junction with the A2270 to Seven Sisters Road
- Lower Willingdon (Up to Eastbourne Road and anything Willingdon side of Broad Road)
Don't forget we are also running the Polegate Scarecrow Festival which includes Wannock!

We couldn't support our beneficiaries and raise as much money as we do without the support of the Windsor Club. They have donated the costs and expenditure of the Willingdon Scarecrow Festival to enable us bring our annual events to a new village supporting a new community!
The Windsor Club are at the Polegate Community Centre on 54 Windsor Way, Polegate they are open 7 days a week from 11am. The Windsor Club say, “If you’re interested in joining the club, why not come along and savour our beer and entertainment”.
